Product development and engineering

Solfic coordinates all activities that can occur during the product development process, such as: patent search en application, government funding, concept development, examination of relevant legislation, engineering, prototyping, life time testing, product documentation, manufacturing and QA procedures, contract supply, etc.

A typical Solfic development project has the following structure:

- Establish development specification and project plan
- Concept design(s)
- Technical and commercial feasibility
- Test model
- Prototype
- HALT testing / Field testing / pilotproject
- Product engineering
- first production run

For all of our projects the development and product specification require a significant amount of time and effort. In the early stage the interest of all relevant parties are defined, with emphasis on the requirements of end users, maintenance crew and installation companies.
At the same time hard functional and commercial requirements and nice-to have will be distinguished.
In practical situations various project stages are running simultaneously (concurrent-engineering) It is needless to say that after each project phase an evaluation takes place. 

When considered effective we are able to apply the following design tools:

- VA/VE (Value engineering / value analysis) - a method where the best technical solution can be selected by  
  evaluating product functions and values in a structured way.

- FMEA (failure mode and effect analysis) - helps to identify and quantify technical and commercial risks.

- QFD (quality function deployment) - a method that helps to translate customer needs into technical design
